Happy 4th of July! I hope everyone has a safe and fun holiday weekend! While watching fireworks and sipping cocktails sounds fun, I am looking forward to a quiet few days in Wellington. On the agenda: go to a couple of parks in the area, laundry, clean/organize, and dog-sit.
I’m linking up with Heather (Housewife Glamour) for this week’s edition of Friday Favorites.
- Group Runs
Last night, I went on a group run organized by Fit2Run, a nearby running store. The running club and running store back home in NY host group runs, but Mike and I never went to them. I now realize what we were missing out on!
Over 70 runners showed and I met two other women who were new to the group runs, too! The running store had giveaways and an ASICS rep allowed runners to try the latest ASICS neutral and stability shoes. I tested the Gel Cumulus 16s for the 4.6 mile run. I appreciated the opportunity to run in them outside instead of just jogging around the store! The 16s were a tad bit heavy for my liking, but they felt great otherwise.
If you’ve never been to a group run, I definitely recommend going at least once to see what it’s all about!
- Body Pump
This favorite is from last week, but I loved Body Pump so much that it’s still on my mind. Since my guest pass expired and I don’t have a gym membership, I didn’t attend BP this week. I’m still deciding if I want to invest in a membership or just take advantage of the workout DVDs I already own. If I were to get a membership at the gym that offers BP or any gym really, I’d have access to treadmills. I shall keep researching my options.
If you’re not sure what Body Pump is, here’s a short clip:
- Whole Foods
I had never stepped foot inside a Whole Foods until earlier this week. I loved how everything is natural and even local in some cases. I had my eye on the hot bar, but opted for sushi and a vegan chocolate chip cookie. I can’t wait to go back and roam aisle to aisle.
- Clif Bars / Zone Perfect Bars
Mike and I stocked up on Clif Bars and Zone Perfect Bars before we drove to Florida. It ended up saving us a decent amount of money because we turned to these bars instead of eating breakfast out every single morning. I grab one to eat on the ride home from an interview or throw one in my purse for something to eat while I dog-sit. There’s only a few left, so I’ll need to stock up soon!
- Wicking Clothes
It’s amazing how much a person can sweat in the matter of 30 seconds. I don’t think I’m the only one? I step outside to walk to my car and I’m already sweating. Whoever invented wicking material is a genius. I can’t imagine running/walking/going outside at all without wearing wicking clothes.
My go-to clothes for the last two weeks: my favorite running shorts (<– Brooks Versatile 5″ shorts) and a race tech shirt or a Gap Fit tank.
What are your plans for the weekend? What are your favorite workout clothes? What have you been loving this week?
